Hear artists Naimo Omar and Justin Enrico Legaspi speak about their practice and experience as part of the Create [SPACE] program. Naimo was an artist-in-residence at Werribee Open Range Zoo and Justin was located at Point Cook Library. Both artists will share their thoughts and insights followed by a Q&A session. Stay around and enjoy a short, guided tour of the Wyndham Art Prize with Curator Olivia Poloni.

Create [SPACE] is an artist-in-residence program designed to provide temporary spaces for local artists in Wyndham venues. The residences are for artists to develop work, experiment and expand on their practice. In 2026, the program will be in its third year.

About the Artists

Naimo Omar
Naimo Omar’s practice centres around a constant dissection of her intersectional identity, tracking its metamorphosis in both private and public spaces, as well as the relativity of public and private when contextualised in so-called Australia. It simultaneously aims to actively critique the embedded worldviews of audiences, a practice of learning and teaching, and an essential reflective process for healing and emotional resolution. Through the intersection of painting, moving image, language and found object installation, she seeks to explore the precarious nature of site-specific social and cultural structures and interrogate the state of immigrancy in these spaces.

Justin Enrico Legaspi
Justin Enrico Legaspi is a Filipino interdisciplinary artist-writer living and practising on the unceded lands of the Bunurong people in Naarm/Melbourne. Working across video, 3D, writing, and installation, he engages with themes of transnationalism, liminality, and media-saturation, often turning to the dissonance between personal, collective, and canonical perspectives. He reflects on diaspora, suburbia, and internet culture as sites where memory, identity, and histories are in flux, continually reshaped through hybridity, ambiguity, and idealisation.
