Join Point Cook’s own indie store, Rare Records, for a PLAY-themed record listening party, highlighting the way music and art can help us approach big ideas and hard topics. B.Y.O. vinyl record to share and reflect on music that shapes our cultural conversations.

Connect with fellow music lovers at a record listening party dedicated to tracks that are playful, humorous or satirical like the works in our current exhibition
PLAY.

Bring a record from your own collection that will get the conversation started! Not sure what we mean? Think of tracks like Prince’s Controversy (1981), The Pill by Loretta Lynn (1975), or God Save the Queen by The Sex Pistols (1977).

The bar will be open to purchase snacks and beverages.

Suitable for ages 15+. People under 18 years to be accompanied by an adult.

About Rare Records
Rare Records is a Point Cook-based, independent, record store, specialising in the coolest rare and collectable vinyl records, CDs, posters and other music memorabilia.

Operating for 34 years, Rare Records is an institution within the Australian music scene, known for offering the most extensive and obscure range of music products. They also have a history in releasing music on their label, along with booking and hosting live performances and appearances; and continue to dabble in supporting bands they love, however they can.

About PLAY and Swamp Monsters
The exhibition PLAY explores how contemporary artists use playfulness, humour, and the language of games to approach subjects that are often difficult, divisive, or emotionally charged. The exhibition proposes that play is not a retreat from seriousness, but a strategy for engaging with it; a way to disarm, reimagine, and reconnect.

Exhibition dates: 31 October 2026 - 24 January 2027.
Opening hours: Monday - Friday, 10am - 4pm, Saturday - Sunday, 10am - 3pm
